I want to know what can I do for my son if I would die and can I appoint someone to take care of him besides his father.

You didn't post enough details to answer you but depending on his age, your assets, and the father, you may, with a proper will drawn by a lawyer, be able to address those issues. I'd need to know more details from you to know how best to address them.

You can establish a trust to care for his needs, regardless of the age. The trustee would pay for your son's care out of the trust.
