Deceptive Practice

Gas stations put ''Unleaded Plus'' signs above ''Regular'' gasoline signs(out of the norm), and sets the ''Plus'' price at/or below the going Regular price rate for that area, and sets the ''Regular'' price several cents higher than the areas going rate for ''Regular'' fuel.

Comment: If you are not observant and fill with regular, you will pay more than at other stations in the same area. As most people are not observant, the stations deception results in additional income that they would not normally get.

Is this type of sales deception permitted by Illinois law?

If the gas station did this with the intention that people would rely on the normal placement of signage and be deceived, then yes, this would constitute a deceptive trade practice under Illinois law.
