Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Returned Employer Check - Uncollected Funds Hold

I was issued a personal check for $400 from a lady I did some babysitting for and the check bounced. I was issued an indeminfied check by my bank listing Return Reason - B Uncollected Funds Hold. Due to the return of the original funds my bank charged me fees for the items they had paid out from the $400. The bank reversed 3 of 8 items and I have asked this lady to pay for the fees the bank did not reverse. She has paid the original $400, but still owes $206 for fees. Do I have a legal right to pursue the $206 fees? Or is my bank at fault and should I be pursuing the bank for a complete reversal of the remaining fees? Thank you for any assistance in this matter.

Re: Returned Employer Check - Uncollected Funds Hold

Your bank isn't at fault if the woman who bounced the check in fact did not have the funds at the time she issued the check. I'd recommend consulting with a local collections attorney to help you with this.
