Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

About appearing in court as a defendant.

My question comes from a charge I received. I have to appear in court about an incident that happened to me out of random one day while walking down the street. A woman said to the police that I, out of a crowd of people because it was the 4th of July, kicked her baby. In fact, the woman actually became aggressive with me and harrassed me. I just did not have a cell phone to do anything about it that day. Is there anything that could seriously happen to me from this charge?

Re: About appearing in court as a defendant.

Yes, you could be facing some serious consequences. Contact an attorney if you can afford one. If not, request the public defender at your first court appearance.
