damage

my ex is claiming I damaged property in his house and I have 2 witnesses that know where I was the day in question. What will the courts do to me? WIll i get in any trouble for him lying?

If your ex pursues the damage in court, then you should bring your witnesses to Court to testify that you were with them. If the Court believes your ex, then you could be subject to some kind of penalty, but it depends what Court here's the charges to say what the result might be.

For example, if you are in divorce court the Judge might deduct the damages from your share of dividing up the property.

If you are in civil court, the Judge could order you to pay for the damages.

If you are in criminal court, the Judge could fine you or possibly give you probation or worse. But criminal court probably will not get involved unless the police were involved and the damage is fairly severe.
