Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

ok here goes,

one year ago my friend and I decided to play a prank on a girl. He kept going on and on about how she was annoying and deserved a prank played on her, and so we devised a plan. We decided to write her disgusting letters, I would handel the erotic aspect of the letters and he would do the rest, it was like she would have a lesbian stalker. Well we wrote her one a day for a week, and he delievered them, and at the end of the week she called the university police.

When the cops came to my door I cried, and sobbed, and they told me it was okay because the girl only blammed my friend. The officer had me write out a statement and I did, I told him everything, and the police officer said that they were about to take my friend to jail for trying to lie to the police. The only reason he admitted to the charges was because the police told him that they could match the ink on the letters to the ink in his printer and they had a search warrent.

The police told me I was very cooperative but to stay away from my friend. It turned out he and I were both punished by the university by one semester of diciplinary probation. I was horrified, I was depressed over this, because I knew what I did was wrong, and I went into a depression. The girl found me one day going up to the roof of our building getting ready to kill myself, and she forgave me there and then. Her family forgave me, and she introdeuced me to all her friends.

Well the other boy would not stop getting into trouble, he came back from easter break only to find out that his sword had been taken away during a routine room search and he had to fill out yet another police report to get it back. That made two, and what was more he was still on academic probation for cheeting on a paper. Now at the same time my friend, the girl, had a picture of him on facebook holding a beer, and having two girls on each side of him. He went insane over it, and threatened to take away her computer until it was gone, I watched her delete it but he did not believe me. He told me he was going to make her take it off, and lunged for the computer, I stepped in front of him and threw him out of my dorm room.

He kept bothering the girl, and he got introuble one week from the end of school and he got in trouble because of seven videos of him blowing things up in his microwave. For this he got an extended diciplinary probation, and it kept getting wrose. He called the girls house at two in the morning telling her parents to remove the picture or he would get his father, who is a lawyer to sue her. Well she called his house twice and now I find out that she is being sued for phone harrasment. I have also found out that she is counter suing him for the letters we wrote. She says she has the police report, and the reports that I filled out as well. She tells me that the judge is going to throw out the charges on her, but this case has gone to the states attorny. I was wondering if I will have to go to court as well, but you should know that no charges have been brought against me, and I have not gotten anything in the mail from the court. The court date is at the end of august, and they are four hours away from me. I really hope I dont have to go, but please tell me if I will, cause the girl is promising to keep me out of this.

There is no way to know if you will have to testify. If this is a criminal case, it will be up to the state's attorney, not your friend. If it is a civil case, it will be up to the attorneys for the plaintiff and defendant.
