Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

dui

2 years ago I received a dui and was sentenced to 3 years probation, obviously license problems, a 2500.00 dollar fine and alcohol classes. Well I did everything except the classes. They want 1500 dollars for them and I don't have access to that kind of money. I've already told the judge that I cannot do them and he gave a continuance. So I have to go back and tell him I still did not do the classes. This is my first offense and the only thing I on my record. Oh yeah, this was in Illionois, and I live in Missouri. I am wanting to know if I will get jail time for this?

Re: dui

The court could resentence you if a Violation of Probation is filed by the State and you could certainly be incarcerated pursuant to statute.

You will not get sympathy from the court. Find the money and complete the classes.

Re: dui

Unlikely, but you need to do the class ASAP.

Re: dui

It is possible that the judge will just decide to give you the conviction and possibly some time if he decides that you are not going to do the required classes. Did you have an attorney on the dui case? If so, talk to that attorney. If not, it appears now that you should have. You say you do not have access to $1500, but you entered into a plea that required the classes didn't you? If I were you I would go borrow the money and do the classes now.
