Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

This past weekend, I was visiting a friend at college. We got off of a party bus and I happened to be carrying a beer can with me. I set the beer can down and started walking. An officer stopped me and gave me a ticket. I understand that you can get a ticket for Drinking or Possession of Open Alcohol on a Public Street or other Public Property (Ch. 6 Sec. 26(d)). However, the cop issued me a ticket under the code Ch. 6 Sec.26 (e), Illegal Consumption of Alcohol. I'm 24 years, so it is not illegal for me to consume alcohol. I'm wondering if maybe the cop made an error on the ticket, resulting in me not having to pay the fine?

You go to law school? Where did this happen, Champaign? Sounds like an ordinance violation to me.
