Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

Hello and thank you.

If you are pulled over for drug possession, and the cops find the narcotics in your vehicle, is the officer required to give their name?

That is, if I ask an officer his name in such an event. Is he allowed to refuse my request? And, if he does not give me his name have I been denied my rights at all?

No. What in the world would make you think that an officer declining to give you his name is somehow a violation of your rights? Shouldn't you be more concerned with the penalties and adverse consequences you are facing? Your question is an excellent example of why peole who are charged with crimes need to hire the very best criminal defense attorney they can afford. The attorney can advise you concerning your rights, and possibly help you avoid the most serious negative results. Good luck.
