Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

alimony/maintenance

I was divoriced in 2005, & my ex-husband was ordered to pay $600 a month alimony. He was recently laid off from his job & is currently receiving unemployment. I am not sure of the amount he is receiving. He has decided to adjust the alimony amount to his unemployment & is now paying me $300 a month dollars, instead. Can he do this without going to court to have this adjustment made? Or can he do this on his own? What are my legal rights on this matter. Thank you.

Re: alimony/maintenance

Your husband has to go to court to make the adjustment. You go to court, ask for arrears, and attorneys fees.
