Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

What can we do? Dcfs invalved

My daughter inlaw gave up our

grandson because Dcfs was called in

on her. She gave him to a family friend

but because she done that Dcfs said

that we can't take him from the

woman who has him. She and my son

are still married and Dcfs said that he

had to sign a safety plan or the can

remove the baby from him and place

the baby in custady of the state. What

can he do to get baby back. How long

can Dcfs do an investgation? And what

can we do mean while? The baby is in

hospital for things and my son isn't

allowed to seechim because hecis not

on the Dcfs list of people who can visit

him. Can he just go to hospital to see

him? What can we do to get baby back

the mother doesn't want the baby but

the friend that has baby now is trying

to get him, she is claming both parents

unfit . Dcfs is not telling us what's

going on and not returning call from

us. Whom do we call to get info? On

case and do they have to tell us

anything that's going on? We can't get

a hold of the babies mother to find out

anything. She clames that they Dcfs is

keeping her in the dark also. Who can

we complain to find things out? Do we

need a lawyer or can we do this on our

own

If you feel comfortable with the law, and fighting DCFS in court, then you should do it yourself. Otherwise, find a family lawyer who is willing to take on DCFS. I can assure you that DCFS will not give in to you because you ask nicely. Essentially they will only back down in the face of litigation.
