Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

husband wants a divorce but I can't afford an attorney

My husband walked out on me on 11/9/03 stating that he wanted a divorce and that I won't get a dime or any alimony that he'll have it quashed. with-in a hour he had cancelled me from the credit cards knowing I had no money or a way around I lost my license until 8/05.About a week later he sent a letter stating he would only pay the rent until july and utilites but had said nothing about the insurance needless to say in the middle of my daughters root canal it ended.have applied for state aid we live in a low income area and work is hard to find.he is working for the dept. of corrections he can afford an attorney I want a fair deal in this but can't afford an attorney having problems just trying to keep the phone on what am I entitled to? can I seek out an attorney and ask that in the divorce he pay for it? I had heard also that I can recieve temporary maintence during the seperation unless that is what he agreed to pay until july.I have fines that are due to the courts and have been unable to pay them thus recieving lettters stating what was agreed in court will be revoked I'm scared because I am alone with the three children what are my rights at this time?

You may be able to obtain attorneys' fees from him through the divorce - he will be forced to pay child support and maintenance and the quicker you get into court, the better cause the court will award temporary support immediately.
