Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

drug rehab and child custody

I have a family member that has joint custody of a child, but is very limited to visitation times. This person will be entering a drug rehab soon and is worried his ex will find out and use it against him to cut off all visitation.

How do we protect him from his ex finding out about the rehab until after the fact. He doesn't want them to know until it is over. Could his ex court order information about the drug rehab and use it against him if they found out before it was completed? He will be going out of the area to rehab so that there is no possibility of it being leaked out. Her lawyer doesn't play fair and has done some very questionable things in the past.

Re: drug rehab and child custody

A court won't strip visitation because of rehab - a court looks to the best interests of the child, not the parties.
