Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

moving out when 17 without permission

I have bipolar and the cause of it is my household and family. I need to get out of my house to better suit me. I have another loving family for me to move to. My parents won't give me permission though. A school counselor said that if i ran away my parents could file a report, but the police wouldn't do much about it. Is this true? Is there anyway i can legally get out of my house at 17?

Legally, you could try to have yourself emancipated and treated as an adult.
