Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

please help!

i am now pregnant from an emotionally and physically abusive relationship, i was pursuing an adoption, but now that the father has refused to let that happen, i want custody and to move to another state. if i were to move b4 giving birth and had a stable environment for the baby and myself along with emotional and financial support from family, would he be able to file for custody in MD? or would he have to come to the baby's birthstate? could i be in trouble for not notifying him of my and the baby's whereabouts and the birth? also i have threatened to press harassment charges. am i legally allowed to even talk to him and is it a good idea to let him know? he seems to be going on nothing but being an egotistical control freak, and says he will stop at nothing to get this child even though he's living in an unsafe environment for a child in my mind anyway. i feel him getting custody would put the child at substantial risk, but don't trust the state of md to do what's best. this is a one chance thing and my child's safety is on the line... please help!!!

Re: please help!

What you need to do is come back to Illinois. If there is no order of paternity from a court, or a voluntary acknowlgement to a court, he is not yet recognized as the father. When the child is born in Illinois, he'll have to come here and seek an order of paternity. Please call for an appointment.
