spousal abuse and question about child custody?

my brother in law has battered my sister today after an argument. he took her son away to his parents house. He will notlet my sister take her son from his parents house. Is there away to take custody of her son, without filing battery charges. What are the suggestions?

Your brother in law needs to have charges filed against him. Is she waiting for him to kill her or her kids?

your sister needs to get an order of protection. she needs to go to the local police and et this started right away
