Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

The buyers of my company is backing out of our agreement. We have a contract for them to buy my company for $50,000.00 and put down $5000.00 but it was not signed. I have moved my operations into their office and they have started to keep track of our invoices from July 2010 to the present. Can i seek damages?

Maybe. There are a number of possibilities. An unsigned contract is not an enforceable written contract. You may have an oral contract that is enforceable. If not, there is a legal principle called quantum meruit that could get you back any value the buyer got by what has been done even in the absence of a contract. You should see a lawyer to evaluate your rights.
