Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Judgement Fees

My last semester in my fraternity, I was unable to pay room and board. The alumni threatened to take me to court if I did not talk to them and pay, or setup a payment plan. They gave me a timeframe in which to make a payment plan. I made contact with them and setup this plan and they still brought forth a judgement against me. They charged me $515.00 for this. My problem is: they never notified me that I was to appear in court and I did make contact with them within their time restrictions. How can they charge me for this judgment?

Re: Judgement Fees

You're entitled to notice when you are sued. If you did not get notice, you can go back to court and ask to have the judgment vacated.
