Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I recently broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years, and during those 2 years, her dad had given me several computer items, and he didn't say anything about wanting them back, or loaning them to me. Well now that we are broke up he keeps calling my house wanting to know when i am bringing the stuff back. I believe that i am not obligated to return this stuff since it would be considered "gifts" since their is now documentation to prove the opposite. Am i correct in saying this? What should i do? I don't want to go there, because if i do, the family will gang up on me, and i don't want to risk a confrontation or an altercation. I also don't want him coming to my house, for the same reasons.

Based on the information presented, it sounds as if there was a gift. However, only you can balance the value of the gifts against the stress that the situation is causing you.

If you decide to give back the items, find a public place and exchange them there.
