Traveling outside US whilst awiting cancellation hearing

I have a friend who is awaiting a cancellation of removal proceedings hearing next year. Can he leave the US for travel? If so, what paperwork would he need to be able to return without problems? Any help would be appreciated?

Re: Traveling outside US whilst awiting cancellation hearing

I suggest he not travel while he in pending removal proceedings. First of all, if he does, it could be considered an abandonment of his application and a form of self-removal. In other words, once he is out, he is out. If he returns, if he's lucky, an officer will parole him in to complete his proceedings. If he's not, he will be detained as a flight risk! Traveling is out in my book when an alien is in proceedings!
