Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

Gave Personal Information

few days back, few of my co-workers were out on lunch while stepping out of the car, one of ther co-worker (who is visting the office from Europe) hit the car next with the dorr that chipped the paint. The owner of the damaged car was quite upset as no-one in my group would come forward, just so to help my visitng co-worker, I gave my personal information like Phone, address and my D/L no. to him asking him to call me back with a estimate so I can get it paid to him. But as I was in a hurry, I did not get any of his information. Its been a few days he did not call me. Is there something to be concerned about ? I feel uncomforatble giving him my information without getting his details.

Please help clear the could of doubt I am in ?

Thanks in Advance.

Re: Gave Personal Information

I would take a wait-and-see approach here....it seems to me that you are anxious for no reason.

If he calls you, you can ask for his information then - if he does not call you, you have nothing to worry about.

It is a violation of the law to damage someone's property and refuse a request to identify yourself.

It seems to me that you saw a situation which was escalating and you provided your name and contact information.

From the information you have provided, I can see no reason for you to be concerned at all.

Good luck,

Matt Belcher
