Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

Liability

My daughter borrowed her friend's car - auto belonged to his mother - she has no insurance.

My daughter was in an accident ( approx 3K damages) I oferred to help her friend's mother by contacting a friend in the body shop industry.

They refused, and have brought us to court for the amount of damages.

Is my daughter liable since her friend lent her the auto, and the mother had no coverage?

Re: Liability

Your daughter's liability as the driver of the car will depend on whether or not she was negligent (was the accident her fault?). You should inquire of her/your insurance company to see if she has coverage which extends to her use of another's car.
