Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

Medical content

I'm starting a web site that will share dog health/medical content. I've was hoping to reference a couple vet books on common diseases. Where does copyright law land on the use of medical content (disease and biology topics)? Is it ''common knowledge?'' Obviously this is assuming no plagiarism. Thanks!

Re: Medical content

Copyright law would protect the "expression" of the information, not the information itself. So as long as you express the information in an alternative way you can use the specific information. The real question you probably want answered is "in my case have I expressed the information in such a way as to likely be safe from a copyright infringement action?" The answer to that question is specific to your facts and I would need to see all the related documents. Hope this helped. -Justin
