Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I recently got let go from a job that I had for 8 days, the reason they stated was due to poor customer service, but the day before someone payroll check was misplaced, they stated that it has never happend before, they did not come to me and ask if I took the check but it was strange that the next day my "customer service" is there anything I can do legally about this situation

Illinois is an employment at will state, which means you can be fired (or quit) for almost any reason--or no reason at all. Unless there was discrimination based on a protected class, there is not much you can do. Depending on circumstances, you may be able to get unemployment though.
