Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Hi! My wife works at a daycare center and was forced to take a day off without pay, because they (the girls at the daycare) had the babies in the swings while sleeping. The owner had said the center was wrote up, some type of citation for it from dcfs. Is this legal to do?Make the person take a day off without pay & put the record in their file?

They also dock the girls pay 15 minutes if you are one minute late? THIS CANT BE LEGAL??? I could go on & on with this company!!

Thank you for your time & professional advice Sincerely R.D

You did not mention if your wife is hourly or salary. I assume she is hourly. Therefore, making her take a day off without pay, if she is hourly, is likely not in violation of any laws.

Docking pay for being tardy, however, is absolutely prohibited by law.
