Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I would like to know if a collection agency can continue to report to the credit agency if my case went to court and the judgement was withdrawn without prejudice. My apartment complex reported me to a collection agency for $2029.00. This amout was for a verbal lease that I never agreed to. The collection agency submitted the case to a collection law firm that entered a law suit against me. My attorney informed me that the case was withdrawn without prejudice. I spoke with a representative from the law firm who informed me that the case was closed. He also told me that they were unable to remove the negative report from my credit report because they do not report to credit agencies. However; the collection agency is refusing to remove the negative reporting, i was told that they could not talk with me about the case because it was submitted to the law firm for collection. What are my options at this time.

Have the attorney provide you with the dismissal and send it to the 3 credit reporting agencies. Beware that "without prejudice" means the case can be re-filed against you for a year.
