Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

Wal-Mart & Purse Stolen From Trunk

hi. i had my purse stolen from my trunk at wal-mart. i was told by someone in security that she saw nothing on the surveilance tapes and was later told by the police that i asked to investigate that the cameras weren't working that day and that they had been on wal-mart about this as there had been a rash of that sort of thing happening there? what? in the meantime, i've had to cancel acounts, re-establish everything, right before my move out of state? can someone please let me know if i have grounds to sue. i know that i could've recovered my belongings with proper security in place or had been warned of such activities.

Re: Wal-Mart & Purse Stolen From Trunk

Wal-mart didn't tell you to leave your purse in your trunk, did they? Wal-mart does not have a duty to protect your possessions from getting stolen from your car. It's unfortunate that it happened, but it's a risk you assume when you do things like leave your purse in your car.
