prolonged complications

in august of 2007 i had an appendectomy, i was cut down the middle instead of the side because of my size. Since my surgery I have had a pus/ blood mixture discharge from my umbilical region, thatr has been calleds a fistula and a hernia by doctors i was scheduled a surgery to repair this but circumstances wouldnt let this happen i took time of work for this repair surgery and the doctor who is not the same doctor as the first refused to do the surgery, basically i need to know if i have any options

If you feel that there was malpractice by the first surgeon, you need to obtain an opinion form another surgeon stating so. If you are able to do so, you can consult an attorney to file a malpractice case for you. If you are asking about the second surgeon, that surgeon can choose to operate or not.

From a non-legal standpoint, you may need to find another surgeon. If you live near Chicago or St. Louis, there should be a few different university affilated hospitals where you may have a choice of surgeaons. Good luck.
