Co-tenant wants out of apartment lease

Three people have signed a lease that expires July 31,2000. One of the tenants no longer "feels comfortable" living in the apartment and has subsequently moved her things out. What rights do the remaining tenants have regarding her installation of a new tenant? Can she choose whomever she wants to take over her share of the lease without consulting the 2 remaining tenants, or can the two people who have lived in the apartment with her for 1.5 years be discerning with regard to who moves into their home?

Re: Co-tenant wants out of apartment lease

While I can't be 100% sure without seeing the actual lease, it would appear that the 3d party is equally liable under the terms of the lease. It would also appear that common courtesy should carry the day here. The moved-out thrid party should only be allowed to "sub-lease" IF the sublessee is acceptable to the remaining two. Only then will she be "off the hook".
