The answer may depend on what language is in the lease.

We really can't even tell which tenant you are: one of the original 2 tenants who didn't bail and is still in the apartment? the tenant that bailed hoping the replacement tenant will be responsible, or the new tenant upset at being held responsible for things the original 2 tenants should have been responsible for. The answer may be different for each of you, again depending on what the lease says and how the replacement was documented.
