Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Does my employer need to provide me workers compensation?

I have been working in a family business for quite some time and due to the type of work I perform, will now need both back and knee surgery. There are only 4 employees in this business. I just found out that there I do not have any workmans compensation (nor do they provide any benefits). What options do I have

Re: Does my employer need to provide me workers compensation?

Illinois Law requires that an employer provide worker compensations benefits to all employees. There are sanction that can be imposed on an employer who fails to follow the law, including but not limited to being personally liable for all medical bills, lost wages, disability etc...

If you were injured at work, you are entitled to benefits. There are no two ways about this.

You can contact my office for more information if you want. I will be more than happy to meet with you and discuss your options.

If you are an employee and not an independent contractor then you should be covered by a workers' compensation policy.

If you are not provided with an insurance policy then you have additional rights to proceed against the company directly.

You need to sit down with a lawyer who has filed lawsuits in this type of situation.

Call a few lawyers and ask them about their experience and ability and then I think that you should hire the best lawyer for you.

From your question it seems that you are going to need some serious medical treatment, so I would not delay any longer.

Good Luck,
