Legal Question in Banking Law in India

When i joined an IT company, i got an XYZ bank credit card after that they gave me one parallel card. But i told them to cancel one of my card,

but they didn't cancel it. I got one cell phone using my first card for 4000 rupees and paid it back. After some months thy told i didn't pay

the bill, like they have taken that payment as charge for the new card. I shouted at them and explained what happened, they said will discuss and get back to me.

After sometime they have sent email asking to pay 10000 rupees, but i din even use that card.

What i need to do in this issue?

Also i am preparing to travel abraod for higher studies, will this impact my travel?

You issue a legal notice to the Bank contesting their claim with copy to the chairman of the bank to withdraw their demand within a fortnight of receipt of notice. If they don't respond helpfully, you can complain to Banking Ombudsman.

Your travelling abroad won't be affected by the claim of the bank. However, give power of attorney to a near relative to take necessary legal steps if the bank precipitates the matter in your absence from India and also to take such legal proceedings as may be warranted to ward off the claim of the bank.

Try to solve the issue amicably before going abroad otherwise it may create unnecessary hurdles in future. Think about your future career and settle the matter quickly in writing.
