Legal Question in Family Law in India

My cases are filed against mother inlaw and husband.Husband is abroad.Cases are -498A and DV Act.Although my parents are working,my ddad is retiring next year with no pension. And mother will retire in the next 2 years.I am not working myself.

My questions are:

If I hire a private lawyer, how will his fees be decided on the basis of my family's financial status as explained above?

How do we know that the lawyer is genuine? What if he joins hands with the opposite party?

We have no contacts in the judiciary. So I'm going to an NGO whose services are pathetic and the lawyer here is not hard working. Please advise.I'm suffering for 3 years now due to husband's desertion, mental cruelty by him and mother inlaw, all belongings with them, etc.

1. Lawyer fees are decided as mutually agreed. For legal aid lawyers, fees are as provided by Committee.

2. If you can't trust a particular lawyer, do not engage him/her.

3. Engage a competent lawyer or conduct the matter yourself.
