Legal Question in Family Law in India

Lifetime alimony calculator india

As per Sudershan Goel

''The courts have well devised formulas to calculate husband's liability towards maintenance based upon his financial standard, income, assets, living style etc.''

I could not find this info on website of Mrs. Renu Sharma.

Can anyone of you tell where this info used by court judges in India is available?

In the US different states have their own alimony calculators which are available to the public and attorneys. This is a good thing as husband knows what is the min. and max amount of alimony at stake. Also judgements become less subjective and more objective irrespective of the nature of the judge. Also unnecessary future litigation to reduce/enhance alimony is avoided.

eg. Stevenson-Kelsey spousal support calculator which uses Ginsburg formula, Scandurra formula etc.

Re: Lifetime alimony calculator india

The two legal systems - US and Indian - are not same though the core content may be similar.

In USA the entire income is well documented and shown in tax returns which is not always true in India more particularly in joint business families; as also in case of persons having several sources of income including cash incomes.

You may not be able to access the entire information on web; however, there are supreme court judgements as also text books which provide complete guidance about husband's liability.

Normally Indians in USA wish to enjoy best of both the worlds - they do not want to meet their family liabilities as per their US income; at the same expecting the Indian system to be effective and transparent like that of USA.

If you come clean with full and complete information about your financial living standards, assets, income, liabilities and responsibilities, we may guide you about your maintneance liability to almost exact levels.
