Legal Question in Family Law in India

I need to know my rights----proceedings for divorce

Dear Sir,

My father passed away on the 13th of April 2012. My mother called me over phone on 11th to inform about father's cardiac arrest. I took the next flight to Chennai and could have the last few words with him before he died. I constantly experience the guilt of not being of any support to my father. Both amma and myself feel very SAD.

The husband came for my father's funeral, but refused to do the Aantim kriya. My cousin brother sathyajeeth did the customs. This shook my faith totally in husband who could not participate and give respect to my father. If not when alive at least after his death.

I came to India six months earlier when my father was seriously ill and admitted in Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. Stayed for one month and then left for the UK to join husband. There afterwards my father's health started deteriorating. Even during this time, husband or in-laws offered little support for my parents. Even to get them to him to speak to my father was like asking for a big big favour. During this time my quarrels with husband increased and there was heated exchange of words.

The Un anticipated pregnancy

The most unfortunate thing that happened there after was that I came to know about my pregnancy (April 2012). Since then I have been constantly harassed over phone by husband who wants me to deliver the child in the UK. He even threatens me saying that he will disown the child and me if I give birth in India.

He wants me to leave my mother (or) ask her to sell this house and relocate to the UK. I do not like this idea and this has intensified conflict between us over phone.

In law trouble

My in-laws have never been comfortable with me or my relationship with their son. The husband is obviously on their side and uses lame excuses to find faults in my behaviour/attitude and accuses me of being impolite, disobedient, fiery,

I have always tried to become financially independent, both in India and Abroad. But received no support from my husband in finding me an appropriate job abroad (UK). He kept saying that he did not have sufficient contacts despite being a doctor. I am also in a medically related field-(microbiology).

Wants to drag me to court

This man whom I married wants to drag us to court and threatens me of an ugly fight.

It will kill my mother. I will be orphaned !!!!!!!!! Please help me out of this situation.

It seems you are worried of what is beyond your power and control. If you are dragged to court u may exercise your legal rights as well.
