Calculation of Notice Pay towards insufficient time allowed on resignation.

Could you please confirm whether the notice pay calculated by the employer must be based on the gross salary or basic pay?

Whatever like arrears,notice pay,retrnchment,etc.all are to be calculated on your basic+D.A.+H.R.A.,etc.
