Legal Question in Employment Law in India

i have signed a bond with a indian company that was one sided (it has been mentioned that they can fire me any time but if i left the company i have to pay the mentioned(xyz) amount to them, now i have left the company and they are sending me notices from a lawyer i want to know is this valid in court of law and what could be the consequences.

As you have already mentioned that the bond is the one sided bond. That means you are aware of one sided bonds and two sided bonds.

In India these employment bonds are governed by the The Indian Contract Act, which says that every contract or agreement between the parties should not be prejudicial or restrictive to the rights of any party.

The bonds like yours are always open for litigation and can be contested to the last level.

If you want to challange their demand , you may file a reply to the notice sent by the company and then subsequently contest the case before the court if they file such case.

Consult a lawyer and move further .
