Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Tenant and Landlord

I am residing in a rented house (2 rooms, kitchen, and bathroom). No rent-deed has been made. My landlord wants me to get repair taps, bear electricity meter repair charges, and if he construct something in my room or adjoining room, he wants me to dispose the debris.

My questions are:

1. How the rent of a residential property fixed (is there any govt body which look after if the rent is being charged according to the facilities).

2. Should I pay for any repair; like wear-tear cost of the leaking taps, toilets, or water piples, etc.

3. Can I ask my landlord get my accomodation white-washed, as it has not done in many years?

Re: Tenant and Landlord

You have not mentioned the area where the property is situated. The rent laws are different in States. You may find out the procedure in your State from a local lawyer. Usually, the rent controller of the area may be approached for fixation of rent; the daily wear-tear is born by the tenant; and the yes, the tenant is entitled to white-wash of the premises periodically.
