Legal Question in Personal Injury in India

I(driver) had an bike accident around 5 yrs back. A FIR was registered and case registered by police. Later had an court hearing and paid the concerned fine(RS 1500). Now after 5 yrs the person who was injured has registered a case for compensation. And few days back my insurance company contacted me and informed about the case.

My question is as i have paid the fine, this should mean that the case is closed. So, can they reopen such cases. what can be the implication of such cases on me?

Please advise.

u paid fine in a criminal case but compensation is a claim under motor vehicles act. you may have to appear along with the insurer.
