You can't have any right in your father's property until he is alive, if it is self acquired property by your father. You having rights in your ancestor property.

in continuation to the above post, in case the property being held by your father is a joint family property i.e. the property inherited by your father from his forefathers, then you, your brother, mother and father, have an equal right in that property i.e. you can ask for partition by filing a suit. for that you need to hire a lawyer and he will do the needful. but in case the property was earned by your father with his own hard work and the property is self acquired, you cannot claim paritition but after the demise of your father, if your father dies without a will, you can claim an equal share qua your brother and mother and in case he dies leaving a will in favour of his wife or son or even you, then the property would delve according to the will.
