How many times can you file bankruptcy? Depends how long you live and whether or not you can convince anyone to keep giving you credit. A chapter 7 can be filed six years after your last discharge date. That means about once every six and a half years. A chapter 13 can be filed almost anytime. However, if the court considers that you are abusing the system, your cases can be dismissed. If you have a case dismissed for failing to obey court rules or orders, then new cases can be dismissed without discharge. Maybe you should consider some free debt management programs, like Consumer Credit Counselling Center of Central Indiana, 317-266-1300, or any other counselling center which belongs to the National Foundation for Credit Counselling. (Avoid non-NFCC members, as they could be lying rip-off artists.) Good luck.
