Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

My husband and I are senior citizens living on fixed incomes. We could not pay our hign interest charges and every day living expenses. The more we paid, the deeper the late fees seemed to get. We stopped paying some of the charges when they sent information to the credit bureaus and ruined our scores. One charge card company sued and got a judgement against us with a lien placed against our house (still owe mortgage). A juge allowed them to call us to court, but yheir attorney spoke to us in the hallway. We have 30 days to decide how to pay them off. Our credit is already ruined, and we can't pay all of the credit card companies if they do the same thing. What else can the company do if we choose to do nothing again?

In theory, they could force a sale of your home. This is very rare, especially if there is a mortgage on the property. You might want to consult with a bankruptcy attorney.
