Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

what can i do about a wrong charge after the fact?

In 2003 I was took a plea that involved IC 35-42-4-3. The girl was 14 (she looked and acted alot older). She had been coming on to me at a party all evening. Later I got very drunk and I don't remember doing it, but she claimed I touched her. I was told I would never have to register as a sex offender. The law supposedly changed and now I do. recently it was called to my attention that the statute states that my victim would have to be ''under the age of fourteen (14) years of age.'' She was already 14, maybe even almost 15. I have been wrongfully charged and believe me it has ruined my life more than anyone could imagine. Can this be overturned because the statute states something that makes the age wrong? I was told that under 14 means before they turn 14 and then others say different. I need help.

Indiana has a "post conviction relief" process in which you can challenge your prior conviction. That is almost certainly the best place to start to try to correct any error made in your case.
