Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

College tuition

Am I required to pay college tuition for my son although my divorce decree states

that "until 18 years of age or completion of secondary schooling whichever occurs later

or until further order of the court". They have also ordered me to continue to pay child support although he is no longer living at home, and has not since his graduation on

May 28, 2000. He lives in Illinois, college will be in Wisconsin, I live in Michigan as does his mother. Do I have any recourse?

Re: College tuition

Unless specifically stated in the Judgment of Divorce or any post-judgment orders, your obligation to pay child support ends when the child turns 18 or graduates from high school, but not beyond the child's 19 1/2 birthday assuming the child is still in high school.

No LEGAL obligation to pay for higher education or special education etc.

If you have an arrearage, this continues even after child support stops until the arreage is paid in full.
