Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

how do i get my lawyer to finish my paper work for my divorce when the final hearing was 2 mos ago and i agreed and paid him the amount he asked for before he even started the case he has never done his job for me keeps me waiting for eveything for an uncontested divorce and now because i called the court and found out after the final hearing he never filed the paper work yet and i asked 3 times for my final divorce decree and kept trying to phone him to ask questions and he now sent me a new bill itemizing everything and requesting more money from me and he didnt even do his job plus I already paid him what we agreed so how do I get my divorce finished with out feeling black mailed?

Send him a certified letter laying out the concerns that you have stated here and why you feel that he is not justified in asking for more fees. Request that he finish the divorce papers and give him a reasonable period of time to do so. You might want to read over the Indiana Rules of Professional Responsibility and reference the appropriate provision(s). that apply in your letter to him.
