Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

support from ex living out of country?

My divorce was final late last year. And my ex was ordered to pay $90/week in support for my children who live with me. My ex has moved to the Islands. like the bahamas or the antilies. I am not sure which.

He calls the kids regularly and flys them down to him like every other month. But he will not pay any or the support. He even wants me to pay half of the plain tickets for the kids.

What do I have to do to force him to pay?

Thanks

Lynn

Re: support from ex living out of country?

You need to file a motion for contempt.

If he is found in contempt, which won't be that hard to prove, he will most likely be ordered to reimburse you for your attorney fees and any other expenses.

Don't let him get away with this. Your children deserve support from both of their parents, not just one of them.

Best of luck to you!
