Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

Invest with who?

I am going to get a settlement from a highly known insurance company, they have said I will give you x amount of money and in return you will let us invest the money for you, my lawyer said he would go for it, my question is, why does this make a warning light go off in my head. The settlement is for wrongful death of my husband.

Re: Invest with who?

This sounds to me like an annuity or structured settlement of some kind. In general, i don't trust insurance companies, and i wouldn't let my money sit with them unless absolutely necessary. Have your attorney explain the exact circumstances of the settlement and why you couldn't choose to have someone else invest the proceeds of the settlement. Good luck.
