Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Indiana

Liability for jury fees

Are jury fees ever the responsibilty of the defendant or plaintiff in a civil suit? Specifically, if a person is sued in Small claims and elects to have the case tried before a jury will he be responsible to pay the jury fees? Or if he chooses to have the case heard in Small claims and then appeals the judges ruling and goes to Superior court will he be liable for jury fees? If so what is the cost per juror and how many jurors are on the jury in a civil suit?

Re: Liability for jury fees

You're not in California anymore. Neither plaintiff nor defendant in Indiana pay jury fees. If you request a jury trial in a small claims case, then you pay the Superior Court filing fee, which is ooching upward, but is still less than $150. Same for an appeal for trial de novo.
