Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

Property damages caused by contractor

What legal recourse do I have when a contractor that was chosen to dry up waterdamaged floors and to remove hardwood floors but in the process of the work damaged 2 additional ceramic floors not affected by the initial water damage and the company tore a whole into the kitchen cabinetry. In addition damaged furniture and broke 2 collectibles as well as a glass on a chandellier .Company does not comunicate regarding the damages left behind and only replied to phone calls twice but failed to appear for a scheduled appointment to discuss the damaged property at hand

our insurance company has advised us that this property since it was not related to the waterdamage has to be recovered from the construction company or i may open a claim and be subject to my deductable again.I wish for the company that caused the damages to stand responsible for them since the caused it This is not a insurance matter from what I understand .Any help would be appreciated

Clearly the contractor has liability, and there are some pretty tough consumer laws on the books in Indiana that can assist you. Nevertheless much depends on the solvency of the contractor (and other factors) in determining whether it is economically wise to pursue the contractor. If you would like further assistance, please feel free to call.
