Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa

i am a 60 year old disabled female,. i have lived in this apartment complex ten years this mopnth., i have shih tzu dogs. the furnace is old here as well as everything else. lots of repair work needs to be done but because i have the dogs, i try to put up with things and shut my mouth. the furnace was blowing cold air and today i called the landlord and had him come over and the pilot light went out and wouldnot come back on. his son calls all of the shots and is ruthless. i know they have been wanting me out of here for a long time due to my dogs. the old man came knocking later this am and they said that they called the furnace man whom they use and whom i know well and that he said that the furnace is old and even last year when he came to make repairs he wasnot sure if he would get it working. therefore, this furnace man will be here this afternoon and whatever he says, then that will be the deciding factor as he told me the furnace man said it would cost $4,000-$5,000 to put in another one. and the landlord said that it is the urine from the dogs that is causing it to rust out. some pipes which have to do with emitting carbon monoxide again rusted out like they did a couple years ago. they are trying to blame my dogs. i wonder if they have told kevin the furnace man to make the call that this furnace cannot be fixed and therefore it would leave me without heat and having to find another place to live????i pray that kevin will be able to fix the problem and that they will not make me move out. can they make a disabled person live in an apartment without heat? they would have to give me a month's notice and therefore, i would be here without heat. can they legally do that?
